Jessica Widdifield
Dr. Widdifield’s research seeks to improve the evaluation, care and patient outcomes of musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. Her research has focused on population-based epidemiological assessments of MSK conditions (arthritis), improving methods for research and surveillance, pharmacoepidemiology, health services research, and implementation research. Her team utilizes real-world data – health administrative databases and electronic medical records – along with gathering information on care experiences (via surveys, clinic observations, interviews, workshops) and external evidence (knowledge syntheses) to drive learnings and for implementing an informed and systematic response.
Her program of research encompasses a multidisciplinary approach linking the structure of care settings, processes of care, patient outcomes and experiences of care across the continuum of health care delivery, including primary care, rheumatology and orthopaedics.
