Dr. Detsky’s academic interests are centered on MR-guided adaptive radiotherapy (RT), spine SBRT, and SBRT to the primary and metastases in prostate cancer. As the principal investigator for the UNITED study, he led the development of online adaptive small-margin RT for glioblastoma. Ongoing studies using MR-biomarker driven adaptation will bring forward a paradigm shift in how brain tumors are treated, leveraging advanced technologies like both the MR-Linac and the Synaptive 0.5T MRI. He has published extensively in the field of spine SBRT including its utility and outcomes specific to prostate cancer spinal metastases. Dr. Detsky collaborates widely within Sunnybrook Research Institute and UTDRO regarding biomechanics of spine fractures after RT, brain metastases, and novel PET tracers for gliomas. He co-leads the effort to bring MRCAT (synthetic CT derived from MR images) both to the Odette Cancer Center and beyond to streamline RT simulations.
