The Centre for Clinical Trial Support (CCTS) operates in support of Sunnybrook investigator initiated clinical research.

CCTS has expertise in the management and coordination of single centre, multicentre, national and international clinical trials and research projects across any therapeutic area at Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI) and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

As your clinical trials partner CCTS works with investigators to make a positive difference in the global health of society, by supporting high quality clinical research.

To establish CCTS as the academic coordinating centre of choice for Sunnybrook investigators by:

  • providing high quality, efficient coordinating services;
  • ensuring compliant conduct and data integrity, and;
  • fostering learning through the development, mentoring and education of investigators.

To support Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (Sunnybrook) and Sunnybrook Research (SRI) investigators in inventing the future of healthcare through clinical research.

History of the Centre for Clinical Trial Support

The PCEU became the first component of The Centre for Research in Women’s Health, and its name was changed to the Maternal, Infant and Reproductive Health Research Unit (MIRU).

1995

Became part of Sunnybrook Research Institute to become The Centre for Mother, Infant and Child Research (CMICR), physically moved to the Sunnybrook campus in September, 2010.

The centre also coordinated major large international multicentre randomized controlled trials and follow-up studies that have had important clinical impacts.

2008

Clinical Trial Services/Centre for Mother, Infant and Child Research (CTS/CMICR) formed to offer skills and support to other disciplines within Sunnybrook, under the directorship of Dr. Jon Barrett and Keitha McMurray.

In addition to providing regulatory oversight of many single-centre investigator-initiated trials, Clinical Trial Services supported several successful grant applications and launched new multicentre trials in various disciplines across Sunnybrook – Critical Care, Cancer, Internal Medicine and Surgery.

2015

Launch of Centre for Clinical Trial Support under directorship of Dr. Paul Karanicolas and Keitha McMurray.

2018

Gail Klein appointed Director of Operations
